Food Combining

There are so many diets out there and most of us don’t even know what to think anymore since most of them counter each other. Many of them tell you that eating less and exercising more will give you the body wanted.

But they forget that your stomach is very important and you must be very careful with what and how you eat. Food combining addresses this.

It’s not a well-known fact but the digesting of meals takes a lot of energy so you need to increase the ability of your system to digest. You can do so by combining proper foods and eating them together.

This will help your body and digestive tract save a lot of energy that can be used by different other organs.

If you’re already interested in how that can be achieved, follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way.

Eating Fruits On An Empty Stomach

Sour fruits like limes, lemons, cranberries or pomegranates are perfect for your body. Simply eat these fruits on an empty stomach and you will get your digestive system toned. Lemon juice can be combined with animal protein to enhance the digestion process.

Combine Proteins With Ocean Vegetables

Proteins like fish, meat, poultry or eggs make your stomach secrete hydrochloric acid and pepsin to be able to digest the food. Starchy vegetables stimulate your body to secrete ptyalin enzyme and create an alkaline medium.

The combination of such aliments will help create a neutral medium in your digestive tract that might prevent digestion. When food is not digested, it travels through your digestive tract reaching your intestines making your blood to become acidic.

You can prevent this from happening by not combining proteins and starches. Instead, go for ocean vegetables with your protein-rich meals and achieve optimal digestion. Another solution for a great digestion is to take digestive enzymes used to break down proteins.

Just in case you’re wondering what the non-starchy vegetables are, here are some examples: asparagus, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, celery, lettuces, cabbage, garlic, onions, fennel, sprouts, yellow squash, cucumber, zucchini or beets.

Now you shouldn’t have any issues when it comes to non-starchy vegetables. These digest very well in acid environments so it’s safe to use them with almost anything from proteins, butter to seeds and nuts.

Combine Starchy Vegetables & Grains With Ocean Vegetables

Grains like quinoa, millet, buckwheat or amaranth are high in protein and rich in vitamin B. They also feed the good bacteria in your stomach. Examples of starchy vegetables: acorn, lima beans, water chestnuts or red-skinned potatoes.

A good suggestion is to try a millet casserole with a green salad and yellow squash with butter. You can also go for acorn squash stuffed with quinoa and onions.

More Food Combining Ideas

Oils And Fats

You should really go for extra virgin oils like pumpkin seed, olive or coconut oils. These oils can be combined with vegetables, protein and grains. It’s a good idea to avoid huge amounts of fats since it will slow down digestion.

Protein Fats

A few examples of protein fats are avocado, seeds, olives and nuts. These go perfectly with non-starchy vegetables, sour fruits and ocean vegetables. Make sure that you soak and sprouts the seeds to ease digestion.

Dairy

Milk and cheese are protein fats as well and can be easily combined with fermented dairy products, seeds, sour fruits or non-starchy vegetables.

Dried Beans Or Soybeans

These beans are in the most part starch combined with protein and are usually difficult to digest. You should always combine them with non-starchy vegetables or cultured vegetables.

Sugar

Sugar suppresses your body immunity and does not really combine with anything. That’s why it is recommended to go for other substitutes of sugar. If you really need to eat sugar it is better not to combine it with anything, just drink it with a cup of tea.

Fermented Foods & Drinks

Young Coconut Kefir and Cultured vegetables are two of the most-relevant examples. These can be combined with literally everything, even fruits.

So there you go, these are the basics of food combining compressed as much as possible to create a start-up kit for new users. And if you’re sceptical if you can lose weight using this method, keep in mind that by combining the right aliments will rid your body of toxins.

After that, as your energy level increases, you might find that you are more inclined to exercise, thus making your body become well-toned.
