Limiting beliefs are the things in life that stop us getting what we want. They can be something we have heard from others and taken on board as our own.
Or we can take them on as our own by observing our surroundings and believing what we see to be true as absolute truth. They are the thoughts, feelings and (voices in our heads), surrounding what we think and feel.
Anywhere you ‘feel’ you need to make changes or adjustments, there is probably a limiting belief at the core.
Napoleon Hill comes to mind. “There are no limitations, just those in our minds.”
You can find your limiting beliefs by thinking about anywhere your life isn’t working exactly the way you want it.
If you don’t have your dream job – What are you thinking about that is currently stopping you?
If your days don’t go the way you like them to – What did you create in your life for your day to work out that way?
If you aren’t surrounded by people that love and inspire you – What do you need to do to make that happen?
If you think you have no time – Everyone on this planet has the same amount of time, some choose to make time for the things they love to do.
If you think you have to wait to do that thing you really want to do because you have no money. – Do you think that is the way Richard Branson went out to start his business? Or do you think he went out to find someone else’s’ money to use?
When you say something like I am happy I am going to make 1,000,000 dollars this year. What are the voices in your head saying?
Are they saying something like…. I can never make that kind of money! – Limiting belief. I don’t deserve that! – Limiting belief. I am not smart enough! – Limiting belief
You see it is only us and our own beliefs that is stopping us from getting what we want, when we want it.
I had a belief when I was at school that I couldn’t write and I believed that to be true, so until recently I didn’t ever write.
Now I know some people will look at what I have written and they ‘won’t get it’, but there are some out there that will really love my style of writing and will want to know and read more.
For those of you that do, I am going to keep writing as I am learning to love it.
There is a saying you cant make 100% of people happy 100% of the time. Is that true or is it a limiting belief?
I suppose it depends on which way you looked at it.
If you had 20 people in a room and asked them to sit down and watch a comedy show, what is the likelihood of all 20 people enjoying the show as we all have different sense of humours?
I would say slim to none. So for that little experiment the old saying will be true. But what if those same 20 people are sitting in the chair waiting for the comedian and when the comedian comes on stage he says I am giving you all 1 million dollars.
I would say that all 20 would be instantly happy. So the old saying is incorrect.
If we all go through life aiming for what we want with no limiting beliefs we would get what we want.
So how do we do that. Well all we have to do is change our thinking. When we have flushed out our limiting beliefs and know them not to be true, we then need to put in a new belief that will benefit us in the present and future.
I wish you the best in finding all your limiting beliefs.
