Wellness Habits

Staying healthy has always been a tricky thing for a lot of us. While the basic philosophy tells us it’s simple (eat well, exercise, see your doctor regularly), in reality, it can be complicated to figure out how to leave enough time for our own well-being in this hectic, crazy world where we’re rushing from one errand to the next.

To really make a positive and lasting change, establishing good habits is the key. If you need help with that, we’ve got some suggestions on how you create new wellness habits that will help you live a better life.

Start Your Day Properly

Bleary eyes, weariness, and grumpy mood are not a great start to your day. You’ve got to make sure you get up on the right side of the bed, and to do that you really need to have an established sleeping pattern and get a proper night’s rest.

Get up early because you’ll get a lot more things done, and start your day with a good, healthy meal and a tall glass or freshly squeezed juice. You can enjoy a cup of coffee, but do make sure to hydrate first and get some nutrition in you.

For example, avocado and eggs on whole grain toast, oatmeal with your favorite fruits in it, or a veggie frittata are great choices.

Nurture A Positive Mindset

Mind and body are obviously connected, and being constantly stressed and angry will degrade your physical health. A positive mindset is all about how you approach problems and deal with situations.

It’s about learning to pause, take a deep breath, and ask yourself: “Okay, what can we do about this?”

It’s about cutting negative thoughts down at the root and realizing that there’s usually a solution waiting around the corner, as long as you actually allow yourself to look for it instead of sinking into despair.

Eat To Live, Don’t Live To Eat

Food’s pretty great and you definitely shouldn’t spend your life starving yourself to be skinny.

This is more about mindfulness than anything else, and having a rich and varied diet that’s full of vitamins and nutrients can transform your health, your mood, and even the appearance of your skin.

Not to mention that it’s a good way to keep all the unwanted pounds off. When you reach for junk food, ask yourself: will the pleasure I get from eating this chocolate cake last longer than 15 minutes? Probably not.

Think about what you’re eating and plan your meals, don’t just choke down sugar and greasy things. Make sure that your house is filled with healthy food options that you can reach for when you’re feeling a hunger pang.

Care For Your Complexion

People with a clear complexion usually come off as naturally attractive, and taking care of your face means you know how to take care of yourself.

It’s very important to establish a good skin regimen by using quality skin care products that will nourish and brighten your skin.

Anything from acne to wrinkles can be treated as long as you make skincare into a regular habit rather than just occasionally using a face mask and hoping it will make a huge change.

Cleanse in the morning and in the evening, exfoliate two times a week, and use serums and moisturizers that will replenish moisture and keep your skin firm. You can also use brightening formulas to treat scarring or hyperpigmentation.

Take Your Workout Outdoors

The trick to being consistent with your workouts is to find something you love doing and have fun, so why not make the whole experience more social and take it outside?

Rather than going to the gym, you could try inviting your friends over, grabbing a few cruiser skateboards, and hitting the streets or the park as you enjoy yourselves and ride around.

Alternatively, you could grab your bikes or roller skates as they are equally fun and healthy activities.

It’s good to find something that will help you work your core muscles, improve your flexibility and coordination, and release stress. If you do it with your friends, then you’ll also be working on your mental health and bonding with people you love the most.

Bring Order To Your Life

Get organized. Get a journal and jot down everything in it, from your mood that day, to the food you ate, to how long you worked out. If you plan to do something for yourself, pencil it in, make a note of it. It will help you stay on track and fulfill promises to yourself, and as soon as you learn how to become better organized you’ll instantly gain a lot more free time and won’t be under so much stress.

Try these tips and enjoy them! It doesn’t take much to care for yourself – only a little willpower and a few good habits.
