We have all heard of therapy but do you know the difference of working with the subconscious mind rather than working with the conscious mind?
When we are working with the conscious mind, we are working with parts of our brain that are conscious, or put another way, we are working on, or talking about things we remember.
When we are accessing our subconscious mind we can access things that we can’t remember consciously.
Many people think that working with the subconscious is scary as they think that you may remember things you don’t want to remember.
It is true that the brain is a very clever thing and if you are traumatised, your brain will sometimes cause you to forget the memory as it will be too painful for you to remember.
On the other hand it will only let you remember when you can cope with the memory.
I love working with the subconscious mind both in my therapy sessions as well as those with my clients. When you are working with the subconscious you can make changes so much faster.
The mind sees in pictures and metaphors so you don’t have to talk about your old ‘trauma’ over and over like in traditional therapy. Working with the subconscious mind will allow you to change emotions and your perspective in minutes rather than hours.
So What Are Some Benefits You Will Get From Working With The Subconscious Mind?
1. Helps You To Remember Things From Your Past
All of the experiences that you’ve had throughout your life are buried in your subconscious mind.
If you have lost touch with the parts of your brain that hold memories of your childhood, working with the subconscious mind can help you go back and remember the things that you need to remember in order to understand the way you think and act now.
Our imprinting period is from the age of 0 – 7 years of age. This is when we pick up our beliefs, values, thoughts and behaviours. Being able to go back to those times and change your perspective means you can make changes in your life now.
2. Helps To Treat Health Conditions
Many people do not want to take medication to treat conditions such as anxiety and depression because they don’t want to become dependent on medication.
Unfortunately these days Dr’s are too easily handing out these sorts of medication and people do get addicted. When you are working with the subconscious mind it is a drug free and very effective way to calm anxiety and to treat the symptoms of depression.
It is a treatment that works on releasing the root cause rather than just using a band aid like pills do. By using suggestions to eliminate the triggers of anxiety, depression and so many other symptoms people find 100% relief from their conditions.
3. Changes Your Behaviour Patterns
Hypnosis can help you change your behaviour patterns so that you can live a healthier and happier life. Often behavioural patterns are learned in our childhood.
When working with the subconscious mind, the therapist will give your mind suggestions that can help you get rid of those old messages telling you to behave in certain ways. The therapist will replace the old message with messages to act in new, more appropriate ways.
Our subconscious mind wants to protect us and once it realises the old ways of thinking, feeling and acting is not serving you now, it will happily change.
To give you an example if you had a father who used to shout at you when you was a child and you did not feel like you could answer back, you would have learned at that young age that is was not good or safe to say how you truly felt. (Maybe you would have got a smack).
So as an adult you still don’t speak up for yourself and you have learned to hold on to your emotions. Is this the best way for you to act now, or as an adult is it better to express how you are feeling to people?
