Effective Methods For Cleaning Teeth

We all love that fresh feeling we have after visiting the dentist for teeth cleaning. However, it is important to maintain that feeling between two cleaning sessions as well. It is not a very difficult task to effectively clean your teeth.

In fact, it is easier to keep your mouth healthy than to get help of a dentist in order to repair poor dental hygiene. Getting that feeling after the dentist had cleaned your teeth is much easier than you think.

How to Take Good Care of Your Teeth – Effective Methods For Cleaning Teeth

So, here are a few tips that will help you keep your teeth clean between two dentist appointments.

Effective Methods For Cleaning TeethDon’t Drink Soda – If you have a habit of drinking soda, then you are certainly creating damage to your teeth. As we all are aware, the ingredients like citric acid and phosphoric acid are used in soda to make it fizzy.

These ingredients work towards removing the enamel from teeth making them vulnerable to cavities. If you drink soda occasionally, then it will not create a big problem.

However, it is better to stick to water. If you want to add flavor, you can use a fruit or mint for this purpose.

Consume Less Sugar – While you keep away from soda, lessening the consumption of sugar can also help you in maintaining cleanliness of teeth and keeping them healthy between your teeth cleaning sessions.

Sugar contributes heavily in bacterial growth and acidity in the mouth. It leads to formation of plaque that harms your gums and teeth enamel and cause tooth decay.

It does not mean that you have to stop consuming sugar completely, however limiting the intake and brushing your teeth after eating sweet food proves to be beneficial for your oral health.

No Smoking – It is said, smoking is injurious to overall health and when it comes to your teeth, it is terrible. Although, the dentist does teeth cleaning perfectly, if you continue smoking between two appointments, all the work done by the dentist will be in vain.

The nicotine found in the cigarettes cause harm to your gums. Smoking also leads to the growth of bacteria and formation of plaque in the mouth making your teeth vulnerable to tooth decay and various diseases of gums.

If you are a chain smoker, then you are at risk of losing your teeth or may develop oral cancer as well.

Use Proper Cleaning Techniques – No matter how many times you brush your teeth; if you are not doing it in a proper manner, then it is of no use. When you brush your teeth next time, stop and see what technique you use for brushing.

Are you holding the brush in certain angle? Are you moving the brush in circular motion? Are you brushing each tooth at least 10 times? If the answer of all these questions is yes, then you are doing it in a right way.

However, if the answer is no, then you have to make certain adjustments in your brushing technique to justify the results of teeth cleaning.

Floss – Your toothbrush cannot reach between the teeth, but flossing helps you reach those places. Like brushing, flossing should be done with a proper technique; else it will not be of any use.

If done in a wrong way, it can even damage your gums. So, you have to be careful while cleaning teeth by flossing.

Clean Your Teeth After You Eat – As mentioned earlier, sugar and soda are the foods that affect dental health in a negative way, while there are certain foods which help to improve it.

The food items including firm food like carrots, apples, popcorn, and detergent foods can help in lowering plaque.

They are not the alternatives for brushing, but if you don’t want to brush after the meal, ending your meal with these foods can help you in teeth cleaning and keeping your dental health at check.

These are the methods you can use to keep your teeth and mouth clean. However, you must keep on visiting the dentist at regular intervals and use these techniques in between two visits to your dentist.
