Self-awareness is one of the key components of emotional intelligence (EI). Self-awareness is the capacity to look inward and have the ability to recognize yourself as an individual separate from the environment and other people.

When you are self-aware you know yourself. When you know yourself you have a clear perception of your personality. You know your strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivations, and emotions. Self-Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment. It allows you to consciously live your life.
